Today, May 29, is World MS Day, an international event designed to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis all over the world. As part of the efforts to raise multiple sclerosis awareness in Pakistan, we are joining the global multiple sclerosis (MS) community in celebrating World MS Day by encouraging our readers to exchange information and experiences about MS.
On this day, the Society for Multiple Sclerosis Patients in Pakistan gives you an opportunity to share your MS story with the world. Simply send us your story by email at contact@smspp.org.pk and we will publish your personal experience on our blog.
You can choose to stay anonymous if you do not want your name shared with the post, or you can be brave and we can share your name with a picture of you if you want. Sharing your MS story with others will give your readers strength that they are not alone in this battle against MS!
Every MS patient has a different story to share, and nobody understands multiple sclerosis better than people who are actually living with MS. Whether you are a person living with MS, a family member, a friend or a volunteer for the cause, you can share your own experiences, stories and ideas. Sharing is a great way to remind MS patients that you are not alone. So get a pen and pencil ready and start writing now!
What is World MS Day?
"World MS Day was created by the Multiple Sclerosis International Foundation (MSIF) in 2009 to raise global awareness of MS and its impact on approximately 2.5 million people with MS around the world."
Here are some motivational quotes I found at http://mymotto.worldmsday.org/en submitted by MS patients from around the world:
If we choose to be winners, we will be champions.
If we choose to be losers, we will lose.
Diogo, 23, Portugal
MS is for strong people…
MS is for FIGHTERS
Khaoula, 28 Tunisia
If you have a dream, go to it.
If you cannot go, crawl to it.
If you cannot crawl,
Face the direction of that dream!
Anna, 26, Russia
Life is for Living, so live it!
Praneel, 18, India
There is a rainbow at the end of even the darkest day.
Khaoula, 28, Tunisia
Support from my loved ones gives me the strength to fight MS!
Praneel, 18, India
Stay positive, be strong and focus on your dreams.
Breea, 19, USA
MS won’t hold me back!
I will be what I always wanted to be.
Praneel, 18, India
Never lose sight of your dreams,
No matter what challenges you may have to face along the way.
Brenda, 21, Argentina
My loved ones give me the inner strength to know I will never be alone.
Anna, 26, Russia
I’d suggest organizing an informal meet for MS patients and those who have MS patients in their lives, to share information and network!
Thank you so much for your suggestion Madiha. Insha Allah, we are working on some things at our end and will organize an MS seminar/get-together soon.
