Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease which damages the spinal cord, the insulating covers of nerve cells, called myelin, and the brain. MS doesn’t come for a year or two… it comes for life.
MS patients live a tough life. Every sun rises with a new challenge and sets to come back again with new ones for the next day. What adds insult to injury is that masses have little knowledge about MS, especially in Pakistan.
What is World MS Day?
The world has dedicated a special day to support, empower, and give hope to patients living with Multiple Sclerosis and to spread awareness about the disease. Its purpose is to “Raise awareness of MS as a global issue and raise funds to support the work of the global MS movement including MS research.”
The MS International Federation (MSIF) organized the first MS day in 2009. Since then, the day is celebrated on the last Wednesday of May every year with a new theme.
MS Day 2018 Theme
This year’s WorldMSDay theme “Bringing Us Closer” gives more hope and power to MS patients. The theme is commitment to staying positive and moving forward in life. The 2018 MS day theme is ‘research’ and the campaign is #BringingUsCloser.
The theme and campaign mean that this year, research in Multiple Sclerosis will bring us closer to ending it. This will bring a new commitment to support MS patients and will give them hope for a cure or treatment.
This year, World MS Day 2018 will be held on Wednesday 30 May 2018
2018 World MS Day Events
Events and campaigns are organized throughout May to spread awareness about the disease. You can check an event in your city on the WorldMSday webpage (https://worldmsday.org/events/). The Society for Multiple Sclerosis Patients in Pakistan supports MSIF and World MS Day. Our MS Awareness Campaign event is also listed on WorldMSDay.org website at https://worldmsday.org/msevent/ms-awareness-campaign/
Research to understand and find a permanent cure to MS is being conducted. Research efforts are increasing in the world. Every day, new research surfaces in the ocean of academia. This year’s MS day’s plea to dedicate efforts for research is a wave of fresh air for MS patients who live their lives in suffering.
I was having joints pain in both hands inside and outside and muscle weakness due to multiple sclerosis (MS). I was falling a lot, I had headaches and lightheadedness. I couldn’t keep myself balanced, and walk with a tremor like I cannot control my steps. The amantadine hydrochloride (Symmetrel®) and modafinil (Provigil®) did very little to help me. I still didn’t feel any better, Since the original diagnosis, My stiffness has slowly increased. October 2017 my brother in-law told us about Natural Herbal Gardens where he ordered herbs that effectively treated his Parkinson’s. We ordered their multiple sclerosis herbal treatment after reading alot of positive reviews, i am happy to report this multiple sclerosis herbal treatment reversed my (MS) condition. My quality of life has greatly improved and every one of my symptoms including muscle weakness and tremors are gone. Their official web official website is naturalherbalgardens . c o m. I can now go about my daily activities, I will be 64 soon.
World MS Day will take place on 30 May. The 2018 campaign is called Bringing Us Closer and the theme is Research.
